"THE
WORD OF GOD, LIVING AND STILL POWERFUL..."
In
a media-driven age, it is most refreshing to unplug oneself from
electronic sounds and images and attend to the power of the spoken
word. Brad Sherrill's one-man "from memory" dramatic performance
of the fourth Gospel is just the kind of counter-cultural event
the church needs in order to wake up to the really real: the word
of God, living and still powerful.
Kevin Vanhoozer,
Research Professor of Systematic Theology,
Trinity Divinity School
and author of The Drama of Doctrine (the winner of
Christianity Today's Best Book in Theology, 2006)
"MR.
SHERRILL IS A COMPELLING PRESENCE WHO OPENED OUR HEARTS TO BE TOUCHED
BY THE WORDS OF THE GOSPEL..."
The
simplicity and beauty of The Gospel of John enabled us to experience
the Gospel in a new way that many of us will never forget. Those
who attended the Westminster Cathedral performance in London were
deeply moved and thrilled by this unique presentation. Mr. Sherrill
is a compelling presence who opened our hearts to be touched by
the words of the Gospel. I would add that Mr. Sherrill and his team
were a delight to work with. I would encourage any Christian community
to welcome this performance which helps strengthen faith and deepens
our understanding of the power of God's word.

Westminster Cathedral, London
"OFT
HEARD WORDS MADE FRESH AND FILLED WITH NEW MEANING..."
What
a marvelous night! Our folks were very moved by the drama and artistry
Brad brought to The Gospel of John, making oft heard words fresh
and filled with new meaning. How many times did I think, "hey,
I don't remember that"...which means I heard it in a way that
made me notice it anew. Thank you again from the 300 people who
attended!

"I
WAS AMAZED...TRANSFORMED...MESMERIZED..."
Brad
Sherrill's performance of The Gospel of John is amazing in so many
ways. Even though I am a minister and have taught classes and preached
sermon series from the book of John, I had never heard or read the
entire narrative in one sitting. From the opening "In the beginning"
to the concluding "the whole world would not have room for
the books that would be written" I was spellbound. Brad owned
the text and shared it in a way that transported me to the feet
of the Master. The creative use of props, music and gestures truly
enhanced the proclamation of the message. I was amazed...literally
transformed from a doubter and cynic (who couldn't imagine sitting
through two hours of any one person doing anything) to a new level
of believer...as though I had heard the Gospel for the first time.
It was mesmerizing. Brad's performance is not to be missed.

"THANK
YOU FROM THE NATIONAL BIBLE ASSOCIATION"
The National Bible Week Annual Dinner at New York City's Essex House
was a huge success, largely due to your efforts. Everyone left the
event inspired and awed by your performance and the passion that
you displayed. Even today, as I read the book of John I can hear
your voice performing it verbatim. I hope that our paths have a
chance to cross again. Until then, know that all of us at National
Bible Association appreciate you.

"BRAD'S
PERFORMANCE AT YALE UNIVERSITY..."
Brad
Sherill's performance of The Gospel of John at Yale Divinity School
had us talking for days. It was rich, with depth and insight that
only live performance can provide. We received numerous expression
of thanks through letters, emails, and voiced praise for his work.
In addition to the performance itself, he gave of his time and attention
selflessly to our course in the oral performance of scripture. His
visit was the highlight of our semester!

"THE GOSPEL OF JOHN AT WESTMINSTER CATHEDRAL, LONDON"
Last night I had a life-changing experience. Brad Sherrill
gave a dramatized performance of St. John's Gospel, which has long
been my favorite gospel. It was an astonishing feat to remember
and relate the whole of a gospel. Certain moments sent a chill down
my spine...the raising of Lazarus, the paralytic standing, the man
born blind, the simple pouring of water. In fact it was images like
water, stones, the table, the cross which hit home. Also, the way
Brad involved us by getting us to join hands (illustrating the vine)
or lifting my hand to illustrate flesh. I had not thought about
how much of the gospel is teaching and how a great deal is about
testimony and testifying to the truth. And how much humour Brad
brought to it! He also drew our attention to the Cross and the Stations
around us. One can never hear this Gospel again without recalling
this. John

"THE MOST POWERFUL TWO HOURS I HAVE EVER SPENT."
Our church was honored today with Brad's presentation of
The Gospel of John. I have never experienced anything more powerful
than this man living out this gospel. From being brought to
tears by Jesus' command to simply "love each other"....and
at other times to laughter at the often humorous protrayal of the
occasionally "thick-headed" disciples....I was moved to
the very core of my being. Never before has Jesus' words been made
so real; never before so up close and personal. This man has been
truly blessed and gifted by God and once you experience him, you
will never hear or read this gospel in the same light again.

BRAD'S 500TH LIVE PERFORMANCE OF JOHN'S GOSPEL IN ATLANTA ON FRIDAY,
MARCH 21st 2008...
Just a note to let you know how wonderful your 500th show was the
other night at Chamblee First United Methodist. We were all moved
to tears several times throughout the show, and the ending was the
most powerful thing I have ever experienced. It completely left
my friends, my daughter and me speechless with emotion. Thank you
so much for sharing your faith and talent with everyone.

"I
WAS THRILLED AND ENTHRALLED"
I can't tell you how thrilled we at Emmanuel College were to have
you come and present The Gospel of John to our students and community.
I am still receiving positive comments. As people exited during
the intermission and at the conclusion they were all commenting
on how powerful this performance was, how much they enjoyed it and
how much they appreciated you sharing your talents in this way.
I was personally thrilled and enthralled. I also appreciated the
coordination of music and lights with the presentation. It was very
effective. Again, thank you for sharing your God-given talent with
us at Emmanuel.

I just
wanted to thank you for the wonderful opportunity to learn more
about the Gospel of John through a live performance. Mr. Sherrill's
performance was powerful and extremely spiritual. It takes true
talent to put on such a riveting show with only one man and a few
props. Thank you again for this incredible experience...I will make
sure to spread the word about this amazing performance.

February 5, 2005.
Everyone
who came expected to enjoy the performance, certainly, but I don't
think many were prepared for just how moving the experience would
be. I'm sure this happens everywhere you go -- the place was just
a-buzz this morning about it with lots of 'you missed out!' to those
who weren't there, and I'm sure it still will be tomorrow for worship.
Many people said they were up late talking about it with spouses.
Thank you for being willing to listen and follow a vision which
may not have made sense to you initially. You are feeding His sheep,
and taking words and stories that may have become too familiar to
us and breathing fresh life into them. Making our hearts burn all
over again. We will never forget it. And on a humorous note. My
son dozed off and even slept through 'Lazarus come out' -- gotta
love the sound sleep of childhood. We carried him home asleep and
tucked him in. This morning told him, "You missed a really
good show last night, Adam." His face clouded over, "I
missed 'Jeopardy'?" Blessings and safe travels.

For
someone who has struggled his entire life with attention deficit
disorder, I was not at all excited when I heard that our church
was bringing somebody who had memorized the book of John. Imagine
therefore the shock when Brad Sherrill told me the entire Gospel
of John, just as John must have written it, and held my deminished
attention throughout. Spiritually this experience ranks in my life
with the first time I heard Billy Graham, because he communicated
truth to me. My brother and I spend a lot of time talking about
how difficult it is for us to hear what others are saying, or to
get others to hear what we are saying; and yet, we both realize
that the only thing that gets communicated is what gets heard. This
is really good theater used to bring the greatest story ever told
to life. I am deeply grateful for Brad Sherrill's willingness to
bring this beautiful piece of literature and spiritual enlightenment
to me.

I attended
the presentation in Tucson, the evening of Jan.8, 2005. The church
is not my own and in fact is quite a drive but I wanted to see the
program after reading a newspaper article. And I am go glad I did.
What a wonderful gift you gave the audience. The back and white
words of John jumped off the pages into reality! How much I enjoyed
your intrepretation of the emotions and your totally accurate presentation
of the text, I know because I followed along in my Bible. Before
the program began I noticed you sitting in the audience and thought
how glad I was that such a young man would take the time to come
to this program. Imagine my delight when you stood and began the
presentation. I can't even imagine what committment and effort it
must take to memorize 21 chapters of the Bible, but I am so thankful
that you did!

Hello
I attended the gospel of John performance November 14th at Woods
Church in Servena Park, MD. The performance of the book of John
was absolutely touching. It is amazing to see someone utilizing
the gifts that God has given Brad to show His glory!! It is astounding
to see how something written over 2000 years ago can still be so
pertinent and understandable today...this performance truly exemplifies
why the Bible is called the Living Word! What an amazing ministry!

My husband
and I attended your performance at the Methodist church in Fairbanks,
Alaska on October 20th, 2004. Words cannot express my gratitude
for bringing to life the words from the Gospel of John. We happened
to sit closer to the front and when you came to me and said, "you
have been with me from the beginning," it was as if Jesus/God/Spirit
were standing beside us, between us, and in us. It isn't often that
we are able to experience an event like this in Fairbanks. I wish
you were performing again tonight and at least for an additional
week. My saddness comes from the fact that more people did not come
and hear the Good News! Thank you for gifting us with your presence
and sharing with us the incredible news of the Gospel of John. I
tell you the truth- I "heard" it like I've never heard
it before! God's blessings on your ministry and your calling to
this powerful work.

After
experiencing the Gospel of John, I came away understanding the power
of the embodied word. The Spirit flowed through Brad as he spoke
to us. It was absolutely clear that he was more than an actor. Brad
was an agent, a witness to the power of the Word made Flesh. He
forever changed the way I will both hear and read scripture.

I
have wanted to see the production for some time but have not been
able to make a performance. Wow! As an actress myself, I want to
send affirmation to each of you that you are doing exactly what
God created you to do. God will protect and guide you as you continue
your mission. My prayers are with you. Keep spreading the word boldly.

Brad,
this was the most exciting thing I have ever seen. I was so hurt
that the church was not filled with people standing in the aisles.
This is the most wonderful gift you have to bring this to the world.
Don't get discouraged when the crowds are small. Now I know how
Jesus must have felt when he couldn't get people to listen to him.
I want you to know that I could have listened all night to you.
I can't quit thinking about this program.

I saw
you Sept 18th. I was amazed at the performance. While driving over,
I was dreading the event: two hours, only the words of the bible
in one chapter seemed tedious and possibly boring. I pushed myself,
because the bible is so hard for me to read and study. In many parts
of the performance, I felt God was talking to me, saying "see
it's not boring, what is written is beautiful and full of messages
just for you." Thank you so much for bringing this to us. I
think if you could do 2 nights in places you would have amazing
attendance the second night. I could have talked 20 people into
coming based on my enthusiasm alone. As it is, I am so glad I came.

I watched
you perform the parts of the Gospel of John, Monday, September 20th
at Lubbock Christian University. WOW! The acts were not as I expected.
I never knew how much more was actually in the words of the book
of John, until I saw it acted out by you, Mr. Sherrill. It was a
blessing in it self. This type of ministry is by far the most effective
approach of understanding the bible more deeply. Because it reminds
us that the individuals in the bible were human just like you and
me. And I thank God, for giving you the heart and the talent to
show the world the Gospel. May the Lord bless you and your staff
in this ministry. Again, I greatly enjoyed your performance, and
I hope to see more! God Bless you!

I was
so moved by your words on Saturday night at Sandia Presbyterian
Church. My husband and I invited our son, David and his new wife
to attend your performance. He was so very impressed and moved.
We have been praying for a way for David to come back to church--and
we feel that you and the Holy Spirit have spoken to him. Thank you
very much. I see you will be in Lubbock on Monday. I am sending
an email to my friend, Kathy, who lives there. I will tell her she
must try to attend.

Hello,
My husband and I were guests at the First Presbytarian Church in
Fernandina Beach Florida on sunday night, September 12th. We were
tired and considered not attending, but did not want to be rude
to the friend who had invited us. It was "warm" in the
beautiful old sanctuary and the seats were not "stadium seats"
to be sure. As we sat waiting for the curtain call we thought to
ourselves, "how could one man adequately portray the entire
Gospel?" We thought it would be a play and we are originally
from New England and have seen many plays on Broadway. Therefore,
we wondered if we would be disappointed. All that to say I could
sum up the night with 3 familiar words, "A GOD MOMENT."
God showed up and it was as if I was hearing the Gospel for the
first time. I closed my eyes many times and it almost seemed as
if I was right there "in the moment." Images of the movies
I have seen of Christ's life came to my eyes, especially "The
Passion Of The Christ." The time went by so quickly as we sat
there and at times it even seemed to stand still. Our physical discomfort
was a reminder of how spoiled we are compared to the many primative
churches we have visited on mission's trips and how thankful we
were for the opportunity to be there. We will thank our friends
for inviting us and I have already sent the Gospel Of John website
with an explaination to our pastor, Gee Sprague of CrossRoad Church
in Jacksonville, Fl. Thank You Brad for obeying and following God's
call in your life.

Thank
you for your obedience to God's direction in utilizing His gifts
to you for this faithful interpretation of the John's Gospel. I
think the NIV is a better translation than "The Gospel of John--the
Movie's" Good News text version. You absolutely breathed life
into the apostle's words...as Jesus breathes his life and Spirit
into those of us who believe. Come back to Tulsa again...I'll be
there, and I'll bring friends!

Brad,
we were present last night at the 1st Presbyterian Church when you
recited/dramatized the "Gospel of John". What an awesome
job you did in telling us the Greatest Story ever told...and word
for word...it's certainly a gift from God! I'm sure you are not
only deepening the faith of believers, but also planting seeds in
non-believers that they will always have etched in their hearts
and minds! Many will be Born-again because of your obedience to
our Heavenly Father!

Brad,
I was in the audience at First Methodist Church of Brewton, Alabama,

allowing the Holy Spirit to use your talent to present the powerful

Brad,
thank you so much for the performance, after seeing the people I've
read about come to life, it has opened my eyes. In the past when
I read the Bible, I was just reading words, now, I try to place
myself into the people and times that I am reading about,it has
given me a whole new perspective on God's word, and helping me understand
His word better.

Thank
you for allowing the Holy Spirit to mightily speak through you as
you present the gospel of John. The amazing power of the Word orally
spoken and performed by you was evident from the moment you said
"In the beginng was the Word... I was excited about attending the

I
was very fortunate to be able to attend your performance of the
Gospel of John on Friday, Novemer 22, 2002 in Washington, DC. Although
the show was sold out, I went anyway, thinking that I would just
play it by ear. Not only was there a parking space directly in front
of the theatre (it's not the safest neighborhood and I was worried
about parking), but I was able to attend and sat unknowingly in
the first row. There was not one minute when I did not feel as though
I was drinking in your words. I never found it slow or tedious and
frankly, I thought it was truly amazing. In fact, I was anticipating
my favorite parts and noting the differences between John's version
and the other gospels. It's quite overwhelming to have the Gospel
presented this way, and the symbolism of the spoken word used to
express the story of God's Word made flesh was wonderful. At one
point you held my hand and looked directly into my eyes and said,
among other things, "you have been with me from the beginning."
It was quite moving. Thank you and have a peaceful Christmas Season.
I hope someday to see you perform again.

My

Last
week I attended the American Evaluation Assoc. Conference in Washington,
DC. While planning my trip, I searched the internet for theater.
I planned to attend Sat. night's performance but lots happened to
keep me from getting there! Needless to say, I arrived at the very
opening words of John's Gospel to find myself in a theater in one
of the dreariest neighborhoods in DC with 6 other playgoers. I was
spellbound during the entire performance. Brad's performance of
Jesus, John, and all the other people was masterfully powerful.
I am a Christian. I am proud of the work that he and his team are
doing to profess the good news of Jesus in the world of theater
and entertainment. I have shared just how powerful and meaningful
the performance was with friends and family now that I'm back home.
I hope that we will meet again soon. Thank you!

This
has got to be one of the best performances I have ever seen in my
life! What a wonderful way to present the Bible with, of course,
the best Scriptwriter you could possible have! As a Christian, it
gave me joy and encouragement! Seeing and hearing the Word of God
presented in this way made me both laugh and cry. I am praying that
God will continue to bless this powerful and uplifting perfomance!

I
have seen Brad Sherrill perform the Gospel of John twice, once at
the Theatre in the Square, and once at my own church, St. Aidan's
Episcopal Church. The performance is FABULOUS. Brad and Scott are
magic. I have told so many people about this and everyone is as
touched as I have been. Read the Gospel of John before you go and
you will be even more impressed. Thanks, thanks, thanks, Brad and
Scott!!!

Brad
infuses John's discourses of Jesus with warmth and humanity. The
anguish at the tomb of Lazarus is counterbalanced by the unbridled
joy of the resurrection. Brad's passion and zeal invigorated me

My
grandson, Steve, and I were at the Friday night performance and
spoke to you afterwards. I told you then I had seen opening night
at the Alley Theatre in Marietta and was "Philip" and then came
again when you did the second run there. If anything it was better
this time even in the larger setting. Your participation with the
audience has such impact; I watched those around me as you engaged
them in the narrative and surely the Lord touched them as you touched
them. In the words of one of the reviewers in the paper, your performance
was reviting. One couple from our church came Saturday night after
I encouraged them to do so and I shared with our congregation on
Sunday and hope some came that night. I will continue to urge people
not to miss this opportunity when it comes again. You have an extraordinary
gift of conveying the message of Jesus in this way, and I pray for
His blessings on you in whatever you do. Very sincerely, Happy Kelley

Brad
and Scott, All I can say is that you guys are AMAZING! It truly
is an inspiration to see the Bible come to life as you both present
it in each and every performance of the "Gospel of John". If only
you could count the number of people that you have helped by bringing
this account of Jesus to a public that is very much in need of positive
reaffirmation in a world that appears at times to be very bleak
and uncaring. You both have planted many seeds of peace in people's
hearts, minds, and souls though your work in performing and staging
the "Gospel of John". You both deserve the accolades and touching
feedback that you get from people at each of your shows. I sincerely
thank God that I have been blessed to see you perform twice now
and I look forward to seeing more performances in the future. Also,
thank you both so very much for signing my program at the last show
that I saw you at on March 8th, 2002. I sincerely appreciate it.
If I can be of any help to either of you and your ongoing call to
perform this amazing show, please feel free to contact me. I bid
you both peace. Your friend, Brent R. Watts

Aside
from the sheer accomplishment of memorizing the material, the quality
of the performance, and the wonderful language; it was definitely
the most moving dramatic performance I have ever seen. P.S. I have

a part in that, so thnaks for your part. Now for anyone not already
convinced that may be browsing here, if you can, see the performance.
This from a former self professed athiest/agnostic/whatever... and
someone who didn't care much for theatre either 4 years ago. At
a minimum Brad's version of The Book of John is awesome theatre,
worth any investment of time, travel, etc. to experience... more

your powerful performance of the Gospel of John. I was filled with
emotion and could only look at you with tears in my eyes when it
was over. Never before had I understood the book of John like I
did last night. I sat for an hour and 15 minutes before I even thought
of looking at my watch! I was transformed as I watched you transform
from Jesus, to Pilate, to Judas, to Phillip, etc.,etc. Your props,
so simple....water, rock, flame, wood...yet so powerful as they
became part of the Gospel. The lighting and music were superb and
only served to further empower your overall performance. You have
been blessed with many gifts. Thank you for sharing them so freely

I am so blessed to have met you and am in such awe that you honored

for prayer. As John was praying I felt the Holy Spirit come among

Brad,
My dad and I have enjoyed your work in the Atlanta area for several
years. But last night at Wieuca was an incredible experience. I've
taught, written about, read, and studied John for years, and never
understood it as clearly as it was presented last night. But the
moment that touched my heart was when you took both of my dad's
hands as you began John 14. My dad is 91 years old and in good health
-- but one day soon he will be enjoying those many rooms in God's
House -- how dear and how perfect! That picture will be etched in
my mind forever. This kind wonderful gentleman loves theater and
loves the Lord -- for him it was a unique moment to have them come
together in your touch. God will richly bless the work of you and
your team as you share this great gospel of love and hope in a world
of such turmoil. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us in this
unique way. Blessings!

Brad,
My Associate and I saw you recently at First Presbyterian Church
in Marietta. Brother, You are a gift to the church at this season
in our lives. Remember when Israel expereinced revival under Ezra.
It simply occured through the verbal reading of God's Word. To speak
it like you did was pure spirit. the word of God is the material
that the Holy Spirit has to change us. His word first, His Spirit
second, and the circumstrances of life third. The water of His Word,
The Rain of His Spirit, or the Fiery Trial. All are for our good
and for His glory. Thanks ... We would like to see if you could
come this coming spring (2002). Thanks for your faithfulness to
our Lord and to His word. Your brother in Christ, Samuel Calleiro

you go into SC). How much would you charge for that?

I
saw your performance last evening at Theatre on the Square and was
spritually uplifted! All the readings in the bible should be dramatically
read. I have forwarded your site to my parish priests to suggest
we have you at our church. May God bless you and keep you, Fran
