Guestbook:
2008 European Cathedral Tour

Below are comments from pastors, educators and audience members who attended Brad's Cathedral Tour of the U.K., Ireland and Northern Ireland during April, 2008:

CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL PERFORMANCE
(DUBLIN, IRELAND):

"Brad's performance is an outstanding example of the power of the memorized text. To commit a text to memory is to internalize it. Then when one speaks it out on one's breath, in one's eyes and in one's gestures, it has that authenticity, that conviction that goes with something coming from deep within one's own being. Brad Sherrill is that kind of 'living book', a living Gospel of John. He must come back to Ireland."
-Dr. Margaret Daly-Denton (church music composer and lecturer in Biblical Studies and Liturgy at the Church of Ireland Theological College)
Read Dr. Daly-Denton's entire published article on "The Gospel of John at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin" here.

LICHFIELD CATHEDRAL PERFORMANCE (U.K.):
" Congregations in England by and large need more exposure to the Scriptures and the more dramatic and theologically substantial the presentation, the better. Brad Sherrill's performance is an outstanding example of what is possible. To memorise the whole of even the 16 chapters of the Gospel of Mark -- despite its pared down narrative style -- is an astonishing achievement (as Alec McGowan proved in the 70s and 80s); to memorise the 21 chapters of the Gospel of John -- with its more discursive and repetitious style -- is nothing short of a minor miracle. The script is 'the text, the whole text and nothing but the text'; and the performance is faithful, powerful, imaginative and not infrequently funny. It's a pleasure to be able to recommend it whole-heartedly."
-Reverend Dr. Pete Wilcox, Canon Chancellor

Lichfield Cathedral, U.K.

ST. PETER'S CATHEDRAL PERFORMANCE
(BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND)

Brad's performance gave a vitality and realism to the Gospel message that was truly inspiring and so many of us present at his performance were both moved and spiritually challenged by hearing the words of John afresh presented in such a dynamic way.
-Very Reverend Dr. Hugh Kennedy, Administrator
St. Peter's Cathedral, Belfast

BLOOMFIELD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH PERFORMANCE
(BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND)

Thank for coming to Ireland and for including us on your itinerary. Feed back from Sunday night has just been terrific and we want to thank you for a variety of things:
a) The quite brilliant presentation by Brad that was thought-provoking, moving and gripping.
b) Your humility and approachability.
c) Your excellent preparatory emails and publicity materials which made everything just so clear and easy.
I will warmly commend you to others should you wish to make a repeat visit to Ireland at some future stage. Sincere appreciation again; and rich blessings on your ongoing worthwhile ministry.
-Reverend Frank Sellar, Senior Pastor
St. Peter's Cathedral, Belfast

ST. FIN BARRE'S CATHEDRAL
(CORK, IRELAND)

Thank you for Sunday night, it was great. Many of the people there were from our parish and really enjoyed it - they were very moved at different points and it was great to hear the whole Gospel in one sitting. I'd love to register interest in hosting another visit to the Cork area next year if would like to come. I am based at the Church of Ireland Church in Blarney and we would love to welcome you. We would expect that we would be able to get packed house(s).
-Ruth Jackson (Blarney, Ireland)

CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL PERFORMANCE
(DUBLIN, IRELAND):

I saw your performance in Ireland just this last Saturday and WOW! Again, I just want to thank you for that amazing ministry. To be honest, I had no idea what I was going to see, but it looked interesting. You surpassed any expectaions I had for the night and most definitely changed the way I'll see the book of John. You had such passion and I loved how you interacted with the crowd, myself included. I'm sure God has more plans for your future and I encourage you to keep up the awesome work. That was definitely one of the highest points of my journey across the pond. Thanks again.
-Kelly Crisp (A U.S. citizen from California traveling in Ireland)

A few additional reviews from Brad's previous March, 2007 tour of the U.K.:

WESTMINSTER CATHEDRAL (LONDON):
The simplicity and beauty of The Gospel of John enabled us to experience the Gospel in a new way that many of us will never forget. Those who attended the Westminster Cathedral performance in London were deeply moved and thrilled by this unique presentation. Mr. Sherrill is a compelling presence who opened our hearts to be touched by the words of the Gospel. I would add that Mr. Sherrill and his team were a delight to work with. I would encourage any Christian community to welcome this performance which helps strengthen faith and deepens our understanding of the power of God's word.
-Rev. Msgr. Mark Langham, Administrator
Westminster Cathedral, London

WESTMINSTER CATHEDRAL (LONDON)
Last night I had a life-changing experience. Brad Sherrill gave a dramatized performance of St. John's Gospel, which has long been my favorite gospel. It was an astonishing feat to remember and relate the whole of a gospel. Certain moments sent a chill down my spine...the raising of Lazarus, the paralytic standing, the man born blind, the simple pouring of water. In fact it was images like water, stones, the table, the cross which hit home. Also, the way Brad involved us by getting us to join hands (illustrating the vine) or lifting my hand to illustrate flesh. I had not thought about how much of the gospel is teaching and how a great deal is about testimony and testifying to the truth. And how much humour Brad brought to it! He also drew our attention to the Cross and the Stations around us. One can never hear this gospel again without recalling this.

-Mr. John Woodhouse (Organist/Music Director)
